Records were made to be broken!
The Northern Aire Lanes women's high series was broken after standing for over 25 years, but the new record only saw a lifespan of a week as Jenny Thunselle's 736 series in Thursday Mixed league
took the top spot.
Bowling on a team with husband, Scott, sister Jess Haugen and her fiancé Sam Aschnewitz, Thunselle started out the evening bowling a 198. This followed with huge games of 258 and a career high of 280 for Thunselle.
In the previous week, Kristi Thunselle, no relation, broke Ella Rivers' 25 year record for high series at the lanes with a 708. Jenny Thunselle did not get the new record holder a lot of time to celebrate her accomplishment as she was able to defeat the standing mark by 28 pins.
Jenny's last game saw her roll nine strikes in a roll, finishing with her career high 280.
What might be the most impressive part of the night was that Jenny is over seven months pregnant. After rolling the high series, she joked that she had some extra "help" in obtaining the record.
Jenny is now the fourth woman in NAL history to bowl a 700 series in league play and averages 189. Rivers, Kristi Thunselle and Sherri Tomhave are the only other women to have top the 700 mark at the Fergus lanes.
Jenny comes from a bowling background as numerous family members also bowl. Her brother, Jason Haugen, recently shot a 300 game in league play, while several relatives also bowl in the Mixed league on different teams.
Jenny started bowling in high school in a YABA league and continued bowling after she graduated from high school.
She would like to thank Steve and Luke Loeffler for helping her improve her game in her 12 years bowling.

Thunselle Rolls 708 Series!
Kristi Thunselle rolled the highest women's three game series ever recorded at Northern Aire Lanes. The Wednesday Ten Pin League saw the record breaking score rolled by Thunselle on lanes 19-20. The night started out just like any other for Kristi rolling a 193. Game two started out with a spare followed by ten strikes for an astonishing 289. The third game came right down to the tenth frame where she rolled a 9 count spare then a strike for a 226 summing up the series at 708. Not only did that give Thuselle her first 700 series, but it topped the all time record of 707 at Northern Aire Lanes.
The women’s high score board had been led by Ella Rivers since February of 1986. Mrs. Rivers was 68 years old when she set the record that stood for a quarter century. Kristi is now one of just 3 women to ever break the infamous 700 series mark at Northern Aire Lanes. Not only is her 708 the new record, it is believed that her 289 game is also the highest individual women’s game ever bowled at NAL.
One might say Kristi is a bit of a ‘Natural’ on the lanes. Bowling has been not only a part of her life, but most of her family as well including her parents, brothers, and her two sons Josh and Zach. Her previous high game was 279, and her best series to date was a 688. Kristi currently carries an average of 190 in the Ten Pin League. The record was well deserved as she has been bowling for 37 years since starting in the first grade.
